Senior Underwriter – Business Finance
Chelmsford, Essex
£50/60k plus benefits
Working in a business lending environment the Senior Underwriter will serve as a key member of the team. The approval process is integral to the business model and Underwriters play a critical role in overall business success by conducting rigorous funding analysis and making fact-based recommendations.
The Senior Underwriter will:
• Hold an underwriting mandate of £75k
• Assess background information on the applicant
• Verify validity of documentation and identify fraudulent items
• Calculate the risk
• Follow prescribed guidelines, receive and review final contracts and required
documentation to ensure thoroughness and accuracy
• Communicate with groups recommending funding to determine the basis for the recommendation
• Select appropriate, competitive premiums based on information and judgment
• Request missing information and ensure file completion
• Conduct interviews with applicants
• Drive the approval process by working closely with internal loan processors
KEY SKILLS
• Specialized training in the underwriting role and function
• 5 years experience with consistent exposure to Underwriting concepts
• Prior commercial lease, lending, finance or factoring experience would be desirable
• Strong communicator with clear speech and writing
• Meticulous analyst who tracks details and understands their impact on the approval process
• Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Skype and Internet proficiency
