16th Jul 2019. United Trust Bank - Refuge

UTB Refuge RunA team of runners from United Trust Bank took part in the Standard Chartered Great City Race in London on 16 July, raising money for the official race charity Futuremakers and Refuge, UTB’s Charity of the Year. The team cut quite a dash in Refuge’s fetching pink running vests and they certainly stood out from the crowd of over 5000 other runners taking part. First home for UTB was Mark Heaphy, the Bank’s Head of Compliance, in an impressive 17 mins 59 seconds.

The Great City Race was one of a number of events the staff from UTB have organised or taken part in to support Refuge’s work in protecting women and children from domestic violence. The latest drive resulted in a donation of £3000 to the charity and a haul of toys and other goodies donated by the staff. These items will be given to families when they arrive at Refuge’s safe houses having escaped desperate situations often with only a handful of personal belongings.
