Internal Account Manager Malcolm Metherell will be running the Cardiff Half Marathon in aid of MS Society UK.
Malcolm has decided to mark the occasion of his sixtieth birthday by undertaking the challenge of running his first ever half marathon, along with his eldest son Steven, and in doing so to raise funds for the MS Society, Malcolm's wife Helen having been diagnosed with MS over 20 years ago.
Whilst Steven has run three half marathons previously, this will be the first serious exercise Malcolm has committed to for nearly three decades and he began running weekly from January to try to ensure that he is physically up to the challenge and adequately prepared for the the 13.1 miles on 1st October. £5 could pay for laboratory essentials, £50 could pay for 10 calls to the MS Society helpline, £500 could provide a short break grant for someone with MS to enjoy quality time away and a chance to relax without worries whilst £1000 could run an MRI scanner for 4 hours.
Malcolm's former employers at Barclays Bank have agreed to match the sum that he raises "pound for pound" up to a maximum of £750.
